Chicago's ground game was the difference—137 yards and a touchdown to Detroit's 91, which mattered because the Lions couldn't establish anything on the ground to lean on when their pass game needed help. Goff had his best day, but one interception and no sacks allowed can't overcome getting outrun at home.

The Lions need to ask why Gibbs, who averages 181 on the ground, managed only 61: if Chicago's defense can bottle him up, Detroit's passing attack becomes predictable, and that's a structural problem heading into the stretch.
