THE TAPE
Every trade, and what it left the price at. This is the price history —
there is no separate chart table, because two records of one truth drift.
| Who | What | Coins | At | Left it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SF | 49ers | backed Bears | 100,000 | 14.3¢ | 18.9¢ |
| SF | 49ers | backed Patriots | 100,000 | 18.0¢ | 22.3¢ |
| SF | 49ers | backed Panthers | 100,000 | 11.9¢ | 16.8¢ |
| SF | 49ers | backed Rams | 100,000 | 3.3¢ | 10.0¢ |
| HOU | Texans | backed Bears | 250,000 | 9.7¢ | 23.9¢ |
| HOU | Texans | backed Panthers | 100,000 | 14.7¢ | 19.3¢ |
How this works. A price is what the room thinks
the chance is — 34¢ means 34%. One share pays one coin if it comes in
and nothing if it does not, so backing something at 34¢ turns 34,000 coins
into 100,000 if you are right. Every bet moves the
price, and a big one moves it while you are buying, so you get a worse
average than the number on the button — that is real, it is not a fee. You
can sell any time before it settles and take whatever the line is then. The
house keeps 4¢ on the dollar when you buy, and nothing when you
sell. Nothing pays more than 200×, which is what the bank will settle.
